My work is is an expression of colour, the natural world and ancient symbols in paintings and on fine ceramic bead jewellery.
The paintings involve a love of landscape – sun, sea, sky, flora and fauna and then capturing a moment in time, maybe the essence of a particular season or how the light reflects on a subject. Most work is in oil paints with some acrylic, I never fail to be excited by the blends and shades of colours that can be achieved.
Flora and fauna are then taken to another level using the creations of nature, leaves and tree bark as a background to paint animals and birds. My painting has then extended to the medium of ceramic to create fine painted bead jewellery. I took up painting over twenty years ago and trained with Bert Carter who was a Vice President of the Royal Society of British Artists and Life Drawing with John Parfitt.
